March 2007

Peace Is Growing - Anti-War Rally and March
Hosted by Mid-Missouri Peaceworks
Courthouse Square, 8th & Walnut
Columbia, MO Sunday, March 18, 2:00 PM, 2007
We invite you to gather at Courthouse Square between 1:30 and 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 18. A short rally there will begin at 2 sharp, followed at 2:30 by a march through downtown. We will then have a tree dedication at 3:15 in Douglass Park. After a short program at the park, all who have time are invited to stay for a potluck picnic. The general theme of the event is one of growing peace, growing new life, ending the war and the killing. The tree we are sponsoring (Columbia Parks and Rec. will do the actual planting) is a tree of life and of hope. Our message is positive and participatory. We want you to be part of making it happen. We encourage you to sign up for this event using our online commitment form.

Join us on the Road to Sustainability at Columbia’s 2007 Earth Day Festival.
The Festival has been revitalized this year with a new EcoAvenue, West Village, Volunteer Way, live radio theater and more. We expect many thousands of people out to enjoy music, participate in activities, visit booths at the street fair, learn more about environmental concerns and honor the Earth. We would welcome your organization or your business’ participation in this year’s festival by setting up a booth at the Earth Day Street Fair.
The Festival & Street Fair will be held Sunday April 22. In the event of bad weather we will postpone to Sunday April 29. The Street Fair will run from noon to 6:30 p.m.
The Earth Day Festival is also a Community Volunteer Fair, coordinated in conjunction with the Voluntary Action Center. We strongly encourage all community groups in search of volunteers to participate, regardless of whether they work directly on environmental issues.

If you coming from out of town for this event and you don't plan on camping or don't already have a place to stay you should be able to find cheap hotels in the area without too much trouble. If you plan on attending all three days, to avoid spending a fortune on room and board I suggest looking for the best hotel deals you can find so you'll have money left over to buy some groovy schwag!

Fall Tie Dye Party weekend bash
Howdy Friends & Neighbors! ;)
If you are not busy with one of other wonderful, exciting events the first weekend in October (5th & 6th), We will be having our annual Fall Tie Dye Party weekend bash! Camping is free, as always.
The directions:
(North of Columbia, MO.) 63 North to Pinnacles Rd. (right) when it curves back, go left and across bridge - there's a green mailbox and a big gate. EASY! *ignore the no trespassing signs* those aren't for us we'll be out there all day/night Friday and Saturday and leave Sunday afternoon.
Swell, featuring Taper Tim will be playing and I don't know what other entertainment there will be, (I was told that there may be 1 or 2 other bands)
but I know there'll be US, tie dyeing, camping,
a fire, and an outhouse bathroom. :) We're bringing drums! Come hang with us!
Free & open vending welcome on "Shakedown" (minimal lights- no microwaves please)
Lots of flat, grassy space for camping, and many nicely spaced trees for tarp hanging!
If you have any questions, email me or call me or Chuck! 573-442-5791 or 573-268-2479
**no fireworks, guns, or unruly dogs**
Much Love, Light, Unity,
